From the research results that I got, I have gone against the colours that had the best response and I decided to do different colours which linked with my main artist image. The colours chosen were red, blue, black and white and the only colours I have chosen to go with from the results were the black and white. I then changed my mind to a burgundy and gold colour scheme because it stood out and the burgundy and gold colours go well together.
From the research results, most people said their favourite genre of music was Hip-Hop. When i first started my magazine I wanted to try do a Hip- Pop magazine which is where I would've incorporated the Hip-Hop genre and Pop genre together but pretty early on I decided to just make a Hip-Hop genre magazine. I feel as though the front cover shows evidence that the genre is Hip-Hop. The gold jewelry represent what a typical Hip-Hop artist would wear. I took the colour from the chain and put that on my font. The colour gold represents wealth, success, achievement and triumph. These are all representative of who she is, achieving success and triumphing despite struggles she has faced.
A question that I asked in my questionnaire was 'what would most attract you to a music magazine cover'. Most of the target audience answered the artist on the front cover, I made sure my artist was doing angle of gaze so that it felt as if she was engaging with readers. I made sure the face was perfect so I perfected any spots or darkened the makeup to focus on the artist. I used spot healing brush in photoshop to get a better perfected look. The second most important was the colour scheme and the colour scheme is bold and captivating to draw in the target audience. The burgundy colour is more a feminine colour so I'm meeting my target audience needs.
Another question that I asked my target audiebce in the questionnaire was 'what is the highest amount of money you would spend on a magazine'. Eight people chose £0-2 so I decided at first to have the price at £1.50 as it was in the middle and not too cheap but not too pricy. After considering the price, I decided to change it to £3.50 because I felt £1.50 was too cheap for a music magazine. The price isn't too high and it isn't too low so it would be worth buying as there are several different features in the magazine that are worth reading and exclusive.
